immowelt's Carbon Footprint

To calculate the carbon footprint, all relevant activities across immowelt's operations were considered. This includes not only direct and energy-related emissions (Scope 1 & 2) but also indirect emissions that occur outside the organisation (Scope 3).

The various types of emissions are calculated in CO2 equivalents (short: CO2e) to make them addable and comparable. Adding up all emissions, immowelt had a footprint of 6,854 t CO2e in 2020.

Analysis Results

The majority of immowelt's emissions are caused within scope 3 - emissions in scope 1 and 2 are comparatively low.

Outlook

immowelt Wants to Reduce Carbon Emissions

immowelt is aware that they still have a long way to go before they are significantly closer to their goal as a net-zero company. The company has already taken some important measures, for example doubling its share of green electricity in 2020 compared to the previous year. The Axel Springer SE also launched a Sustainability Community and a company-wide network of sustainability ambassadors. Various task forces are working on tapping the company's greatest emission reduction potentials, among others in the area of digital emissions.

immowelt Offset its Carbon Footprint

immowelt offset 811 t CO2e for 2020 by supporting a certified renewable energy project in India. This wind energy project in the west of the Indian state of Gujarat prevents the emission of around 814,000 tonnes of CO2 annually. The wind farm has 120 wind turbines with a capacity of 252 MW, generating over 850,000 MWh of clean energy per year.
